Sunrise over Grado as we climb 350 meters
Alpine apple orchards in bloom, steep thigh-killing climbs (and descents), deep beautiful valleys, babbling brooks, rushing rivers, fabulous farms, and it all started with a gorgeous sunrise (see the picture above).
That was the walk from Grado to Salas. We almost made it before the rain set in. The last 2K or so was in a steady cold rain. But, after 14 miles, we made it and we are here at the albergue.
It takes thousands of years to convert mountains to the valleys that you’ll see in the videos and pictures below.
Today’s prayer:
Matthew 6:9-13
King James Version
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Here are today’s pictures and videos:
Video of the sunrise over Grado. The climb out of Grado into the next valley was a steep 350 meters of vertical gain.
These structures are everywhere. They seem to be mostly used for storage for agriculture but a couple of them definitely had people living in them.
A view of the valley leading to Grado. Grado is out of sight to the left of the picture.
The other side of the mountain from Grado.
Obligatory babbling brook video with a glance at the single-track trail near the end of the video.
Narcea river.
A typical deep valley.
Love the short videos. Looking forward to more. Thanks.
