Today’s Prayer
Psalm 144
144
1Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
2 My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
3 Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
4 Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
5 Bow thy heavens, O Lord, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
7 Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
Today was a really good walk. The countryside is beautiful. The weather was excellent if a trifle cool. We are at 43 degrees North Latitude and it’s significantly cooler than Greenville, SC.
One surprise was the number of abandoned or ruined buildings. We walked through mostly agricultural areas and there were a lot of buildings that are abandoned and in ruins. The soil here is incredibly rich and the pastures are a cattleman’s dream. We passed small farm after small farm.
Tomorrow, we walk to Salas. It’s a couple miles shorter than today. Today was 16 miles; tomorrow is 14.
Here are today’s pictures:
SMAJ on the outskirts of Oviedo
This valley is featured in many Youtube videos on the Camino Primitivo. It’s just outside Oviedo - gorgeous.
This is a little more than halfway from Oviedo to Grado. This scenery is typical of what we saw all day.
River Nalon near Grado
For reference I am at 32 degrees 5 minutes here in Endicott, NY. These distances seem reasonable. I like the short videos. Keep them coming. I also like the daily prayer.
Really enjoying the updates, Dad. Reading them everyday. Thanks for sharing as you go!
